The Only Cleaning Schedule You Need
The secret to a clean home is not spending your weekend scrubbing. It is doing a little every day so the mess never accumulates.
Daily: 15 Minutes
Make the bed immediately after getting up. Wipe kitchen counters after cooking. Load the dishwasher after dinner. Put things back where they belong before bed. This prevents the gradual slide into chaos.
Weekly: Pick a Day
Vacuum all floors. Clean bathrooms including toilet, sink, and mirror. Mop kitchen floor. Change bed linens. Take out trash and recycling. This takes about ninety minutes. Put on a podcast and it flies by.
Monthly
Clean the oven. Wipe down all door handles and light switches. Dust ceiling fans and high shelves. Clean the washing machine with a vinegar cycle. Organize one drawer or closet.
Seasonally
Deep clean windows inside and out. Clean behind and under furniture. Declutter one room completely. Check and replace air filters. Flip or rotate mattress.
The Two Rules That Make It Work
Rule one: never leave a room empty-handed. If something does not belong, carry it where it goes. Rule two: clean as you go in the kitchen. Wash the cutting board while dinner simmers. By the time you eat, the kitchen is already mostly clean.
